Lulama M. Kotze

Lulama completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Guelph and later completed her law degree at Queen’s University.  She also holds a certificate in International Public Law.  In 2006 she completed an internship and worked as a case manager at the United Nations – International Criminal Court for Rwanda, assisting in the prosecution of war crimes and crimes against humanity.  After completing her studies, Lulama articled with Nelson Law and, upon being called to the bar, became an associate with Nelson Law (Nelson Wilson).

In September 2019 she partnered with Katherine M. Nelson and opened Nelson Kotze LLP.

Lulama is actively engaged in and respected by the legal community.  She is currently a member of the local Bench and Bar Liaison Committee, the past treasurer of the Frontenac Law Association and a past chair of the Family Law section of the Frontenac Law Association.  She also volunteers with a number of community boards of directors.

Lulama represents clients in various litigation forums, but primarily focuses on Family Law and Estate Litigation.

Kate completed her undergraduate studies at McGill University in Montreal and returned home to Kingston in 2007 to complete her law degree at Queen’s University.  She joined Nelson Law as an articling student in 2010, and remained at the firm after being called to the bar in 2011.  Since such time, she has focused primarily on civil litigation and estate matters.  In September 2019 she partnered with Lulama M. Kotze and opened Nelson Kotze LLP.

Katherine Nelson

Bruce has been practicing law for more than thirty-six (36) years and is well known and respected among his peers and in the community.  He was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1983.  Prior to attending law school, Bruce worked in the federal prison system and in the insurance industry.

In 2019, Bruce was awarded the Frontenac Law Association’s Lou Tepper Award of Excellence.

Bruce has a particular passion for matters related to Insurance Law and is an Umpire under Ontario’s Insurance Act.  He has also acted as a Mediator on both civil and estate matters.

While continuing to operate Nelson Law, Bruce also acts as counsel to Nelson Kotze LLP.

Nancy Byvelds

Nancy has over 20 years experience working in civil litigation. Throughout this time she has gained extensive knowledge relating to personal injury matters, including Statutory Accident Benefit claims. She graduated from the Law Clerk Program at St. Lawrence College, and later became an instructor for the program. After working as a law clerk for many years, she became a licensed paralegal in 2008. Nancy works closely with our clients in civil litigation and estate matters.
